Lay Ministry

Lay ministry for adults or those confirmed includes lectoring, assisting as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC), and being an usher or greeter. Families may sign up to be gift bearers, and youth in grades 4th and older may get trained to be an altar server.

Music Ministry

Singers and musicians are always welcome to join our music ministry! We have opportunities for soloists to lead worship music, or you can join one of the choirs. Instrumentalists accompany during Masses.

Stewardship

We are all called to give of our time, talent, and treasure to our Church and to the poor in our community. Finds ways to do so here!

Guilds and Groups

Knights of Columbus

The Fr. John V. Wallace Knights Council #10047 at St. Patrick here in Gretna is for Catholic men ages 18 years+. The Knights fulfill a number of duties and put on various events at our parish.

Cemetery Board

This board ensures the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Gretna is maintained as a holy place and preserved in good condition.

55+ Club

Individuals 55+ years old that gather for breakfast the 3rd Wednesday of the month to socialize and share fellowship.

Finance Council

Assists the pastor in the administration and stewardship of parish financial and temporal matters.

Funeral Ministry

Provides support with funeral wakes and liturgies, food and service for lunches, and other funeral duties.

Parish Outreach Committee

Hosts the annual Advent Giving Tree, prepares gift boxes for Baptisms, and various other projects.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Crochet prayer shawls to be used for the sick and those needing healing.

St. Monica Guild

Women’s guild that assists in the laundering of the Purificators, and serving events as needed.

Hospitality Committee

Cultivates an active and welcoming spirit within the Church and helps to assimilate new members.

St. Rose of Lima Guild

Decorates the church with liturgically appropriate flowers and decorations throughout the year.

Mary Our Queen Rosary Guild

A men, women, and children’s group that makes rosaries for Baptisms, Confirmations, new parishioners, and others.

Parish Pastoral Committee

Assists the pastor in developing / deepening the parish faith community by proposing a vision / direction for parish life.

Ages 18-35 from Family of Parishes (St. Patrick, St. Charles, and St. Joseph) gather for social and spiritual events.

Stewardship

We ask all parishioners to prayerfully consider their return to God and His Church through stewardship consisting of three equally important elements – Prayer and Presence, Gifts of Service, or Time and Talent, and Financial Gift or Treasure. We are a tithing parish and recommend 5% of a family’s gross income go to our parish, 1% to the Omaha Archdiocese, and 4% to other charities of your choice.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

Print out and return the completed form with voided check or savings deposit slip to the parish office, by mail, or in collection basket.

Online Giving

Set up account for automatic giving by checking, savings, or credit card. Manage the timing and amount of gifts or provide one-time donations for special causes.

Weekly Mass Contributions

Envelopes automatically provided on a bi-monthly basis upon registration unless the office is notified.

Cash accepted, however, to record contribution and include on end-of-year statement envelopes or checks required.

Least of My Brethren

Today’s homeless population includes men, women, children, and families. Approximately 2,000 people are homeless in Omaha every night. Join this ministry to make a difference to the less fortunate in our community.

Prayer and Bible Study

Friday Morning Faith Sharing

Separate men’s and women’s groups that meet on Friday mornings to discuss faith and scripture. Men meet before morning Mass.  Women meet after.

Ascension Bible Studies

Each Fall and Spring we offer a new Bible study for all parishioners and members of our family of parishes. Our current study is on the Gospel of Luke.

The True Presence

This Lent we are offering a new study that covers Scripture, CCC, and Saint quotes that inform our understanding of Jesus’ true presence in the Eucharist.

Adoration Chapel

Completed in 2022, St. Patrick offers a 24 hour Adoration Chapel. During business hours, you. may enter through the main doors. After hours, you will need to request a key card.
